Abstract
He is writing again because Poulson had told him his
former letter had been somehow lost. He has received
G's Roman chronology. He himself has laid the ground
work in the appendix to his Camden lectures which
contains many illuminating additions. He has worked
out the chronology of the ages of Varro, Cato,
Polybius etc and pointed out discrepancies between
the authorities. He has compared with the Olympiads
the various dates assigned to the same consuls, and
studied Livy's chronology, sought to establish the
sequence of epochs. The work is now being set up in
book form and proving unexpectedly bulky. His
Xenophon's Annals together with Xenophon Hellenica
by Dean Aldrich of Christ Church will appear shortly.
He intends later a second edition embracing Thucydides
Annals.
He offers G help, if G needs any help from him for
his work.
