Abstract

He calls attention to the offensive indiscreet behaviour of readers and ministers in Suffolk and Essex, and to the Queen's disapproval of matrimony of the clergy: accordingly he sends this injunction to the Archbp. and also to the Archbp. of York and to the chancellors of the universities. The Bp. of Norwick is blamed for remissness in ordering his clergy and winking at schismatics. He sees shocking variety in ministration, e.g. in wearing of surplices. "Lady Catharine Grey is big with child by the Earl of Hertford and is committed to the Tower".
